Find Out How. Learn More. Bob Mazzarella. American Coach Sales. Shanell Jett. How wide is it? It looks a bit narrow for us and our dog. First of all, I Love your conversion! I ll start converting my own sprinter van in may, do you think you will have that e-book finished by that time?
And can I also ask why did you change your design from sketch to the real one? I mean no storage above stove and sink and the positioning of the sink and shower? When i came to build the shower unit i felt it just sat better going down the van rather than across, and the reason for not having any over head storage was we just preferred the open feeling it gave, its surprising how big the living space feels compared to some other designs.
LOVE your work! We went from a small camper van to a big one and we got so excited when we found your build that we are thinking about doing kind of copy of it. We are a bit ashamed about that, but guess you share it for some reasons. Would it fit maybe? And would you possibly put the fan instead of shower above the kitchen or elsewhere? Maybe small one in shower and big one in main space…. Hi Petr, Thanks mate. It would easy enough to install the tank under the bed.
The main reason we decided not to was we wanted as much space as possible in the garage area for bikes and boards etc. You could definitely use an upright fridge instead of a open top design like ours. We went with an open top as they are slightly more energy efficient.
The extractor fan does a great job and the small skylight lets plenty of light into the shower room. Hi Vincent, not a stupid question at all dude. The pine frames are 40x40mm, the cladding was 7mm, for the ply we used 12mm for the floor and 9mm for the walls and ceiling.
What do you do with the toilet when you shower? And ifnyou keep it in the bathroom, how do you keep it secure in there? Hi mate, the toilet lifts out and we just put it in the living area when having a shower. Thetford also sell a baseplate that the toilet clips in to, we might get one at some point. When you saz you spend 16k Pound on the conversion…how much did you spent on the van itself an how much on material for the conversion? Just to get an idea…. Hi Jens, Thanks for the compliment!
A bit chunk of that budget was on the solar setup. I am very enthusiastic about creating my own van but my wife sadly is not. Could you also tell me what the grey tape and the metal frame was for? Hi Rob, I loved your work. We are also planning to convert a van next year.
Fantastic build, we have been studying different builds for a while and like yours the best. Is it possible if you can and if you have the time, you could send me a sketch top view of the van with the measurements of the cabinets you built. Regards Roger. Hi Roger, thanks for the compliments! Love it! How do you like having the front and back separate? We are building ours to do the Pan American. I am struggling between keeping the wall their and putting a door in or having it open.
It seems like you could control the temperature much better with a wall but then do not get as good of views out of the van with exterior doors closed. Good question, in all honesty the only drawback is when its raining heavily and you park up, you have get out to get into the back.
Hi Emily and Rob only just found you recently but love your build the van looks amazing and shows the hard work put into it. Thank you also for such an in depth build guide best ive seen and will be really helpful in a few years time when i look at starting my own build. Hey Fred, thanks for the kind words dude : Out of curiosity which newsletter was it? Hope you find the site useful. We will have a downloadable Ebook out at some point. Stellar Work! After reading about the shower room install, I was wondering where does all the grey water go? What does your water disposal system consist of? Hey Scott thanks for the compliments dude, We are currently writing a post about the water and electric system, should be up soon!
It has a tap with a hose attached for draining it. Hey Ashley, thanks for the compliment! I really love everything about your van build! How soon can we expect the ebook?.. Also, do you guys have a fridge? Your email address will not be published. Don't subscribe All Replies to my comments - Notify me of followup comments via e-mail.
Working six days a week just to go on holiday once a year kinda felt like a bum deal to us. We wanted something more fufilling and enjoyable, so we came up with a game plan: Convert a van into a home that we could live, work and travel in: The Road Is Our Home Donate If you find our content useful and would like to say thanks, you can show us some love by using the Paypal button below.
